restaurant?
As I've mentioned before, I just moved here a couple of weeks ago. I'm on the search for information, of course.
So here's my question for today:

What is your favorite restaurant?

It changes moment to moment but right now it's Osteria 832 in Virginia Highlands.

I always use Yelp.com for restaurant reviews. Helpful 'cause you can look for things in your neighborhood, specific types of cuisine, etc.

I like Landmark Diner (College Park and a few other places, I think there's also one in Midtown) - there's something naughty about Greek food in the middle of the night. :D

Oh, and if you want Really! OMG! Posh! then go to Canoe in Vinings.

Really? Last time (the only time) I ate at the one by Tech, I found it to be pretty awful.

Any time I open a menu to see 300 items, I close the menu and make a hasty exit.

I actually love when I see a huge menu! I'm a vegetarian so for me it usually means I'll find something to eat. Though here in Atlanta that doesn't seem to be difficult at all, much to my happy surprise. :)

They recently remodeled the Majestic, and jacked up all of the prices.

If I'm paying for WaHo quality food, I expect WaHo prices, not $12 for a burger.

One time we sat at the bar and the dude cooking the food had a major case of plumber's crack. This should be a new diet, because suddenly I didn't feel hungry anymore.

However, there aren't any WaHo's in midtown so this is the best place to go for hash browns at 2am.

Thumbs Up Diner has the best breakfast/brunch in town, especially for the price. Lines out the door on the weekends. Love it!

I'd also highly recommend Watershed, Taquiera del Sol, Shorty's, R. Thomas, Havana Sandwich Shop (reopening soon I heard!), Hashiguchi Jr, and Little Bangkok. Oh, and Taverna Plaka. And Einsteins! The restaurant, not the bagel company. ;)

If you have $100 to drop, I hear Bacchanalia is the place to drop that cash. Worth every penny. Wish I could speak from experience...

I could probably write a novel on the good places in Atlanta. I can also tell you that some Atlanta institutions have sadly become chains (Figo and Flying Biscuit come to mind quickly) and as a native, they aren't the same. Enjoyable still? Yes - and it's recommended you try them out for yourself. If you recall the classic pre-sellout taste, however, it's a lot lower quality. Sad. Equally as depressing are all the great restaurants shutting down due to lack of business... :(

If you want Indian food, come here to Decatur, we've got loads. Zyka and MSB (incredibly long name I can't spell correctly but it's on Lawrenceville Highway just past North Druid Hills) are two standouts.

But I really like Saigon Cafe over on N. Decatur and Clairmont. It's Vietnamese and Thai and has brilliant smoothies (also bubble tea if you're into that)!
